Every spring, one of the Hill Country’s most photographed vineyards fills with rows of blooming lavender and a full weekend of wine, aromatics, and wide-open bloom fields. The Becker Vineyards Lavender Festival is a Fredericksburg tradition worth planning a trip around, and the vineyard is one of the most peaceful stops on the 290 Wine Trail, even outside festival weekend.
Enjoy Blooming Lavender Fields in Spring
The lavender at Becker grows in a three-acre field called Clementine’s Garden, first planted in 1998 with 10,000 plants and now trimmed to a more manageable 500 shrubs. The Beckers modeled the field after the ones they saw in Provence, France, and the Spanish Stoechas variety they landed on holds up best against the Texas heat. Peak bloom runs from April through May, so plan a spring trip if you want the fields at full color. Guests can stroll the rows freely or grab a bench under the pavilion.
Wine Tastings, Live Music and More
The Lavender Festival layers in a lot more than the fields. Expect wine tastings, cooking demonstrations, gardening talks, and vendor booths selling everything from lavender soap to eye pillows and grape-seed scrub. Live music plays at the pavilion throughout the weekend. Check Becker’s events calendar closer to spring for the exact festival dates.
Explore Becker Vineyards with Your Family
The festival is a great family stop, and the property has plenty to keep everyone occupied outside the busiest hours. Kids can wander the wildflower patches around Clementine’s Garden, and the estate has picnic areas for a slower afternoon.
